Complex Hand Surgery
Complex Hand Surgery
Plastic surgeons are trained experts in hand surgery. Surgery to the fine bone, tendon, nerve and vascular structures of the hand may all need to be addressed in such a way that function and appearance are optimised.

Why it’s done
Hand reconstructive surgery may be done for many reasons, including:
- Following injury or infection
- Congenital differences of the hand (birth defects)
- Degenerative changes to the hand or fingers over time
- Rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid and osteoarthritis that may damage and alter the structures of the hand
- Following removal of tumours
